Info to Provide When Filling Out the FAFSA

Your Social Security number
Your parents’ Social Security numbers if you are a dependent student
Your driver’s license number, if you have one
Your Immigration Registration Number if you are not a U.S. citizen
Federal tax information or tax return transcripts, including IRS W-2 information, for you (and your spouse, if you are married), and for your parents, if you are a dependent student.
Records of your untaxed income, such as child support received, interest income, and veterans’ non-education benefits, for you and your parents, if you are a dependent student
Information on cash, savings, and checking account balances; investments, including stocks and bonds, and real estate, but not including the home in which you live; and business and farm assets for you, and your parents if you are a dependent student

Once you have this information, you’ll be ready to fill out the form. Make sure to include our school code (043036), and we’ll get in contact with you when we receive your information.

Financial Aid Checklist

No guesswork, just guidance. Our financial aid team is here to walk you through each stage of determining your financial plan. Here is a three-step plan that can help you get started:

1. Complete the FAFSA®
Visit the free online application and enter JT’s Cuts Academy’s school code 043036.

Depending on your circumstances (for instance, when you filed taxes or what tax form you used), you will need to have certain information on hand about yours or your parents’ finances.

2. Meet Eligibility Benchmarks
Financial aid is available to those who qualify. To be considered for federal aid, you must:

Demonstrate financial need
Enroll at least part-time in an eligible program
Hold a high school diploma or GED
Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen with a valid Social Security number
Maintain satisfactory academic progress while in school

3. Review Your Offer
When the FAFSA® is processed, you’ll receive a Student Aid Report (SAR) that summarizes your federal financial aid eligibility. We will receive that letter with you during an appointment at the school. With that information, we can assemble a package that could include grants, loans, or private scholarships that can help you pay for your training.

We encourage every prospective student to complete the FAFSA®, even if they believe they won’t meet the eligibility requirements. It’s free to complete and can help you explore all of your financial aid options.

We Offer Payment Plans

Federal financial aid and scholarships rarely cover the entire cost of a student’s tuition. They often need to take out loans or pay the remaining balance out of pocket. To make that easier, we offer an in-house payment plan. We will divide your balance into monthly installments, with payments due on Mondays unless you’ve made other arrangements with the finance team. It can be a flexible way to manage the balance of your education.

Common Funding Options

Not sure how to pay for your education? There are many different options available, and students often use a variety of methods to cover the cost of their tuition. Common funding options include:

Federal Pell Grants: Awarded to undergraduates with significant financial need and do not need to be repaid.
Federal Direct Subsidized Loan: Loans with interest deferred while you are in school at least half-time. Must be repaid.
Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loan: Loans with interest that start accruing immediately. Must be repaid.
Parent PLUS Loans: Loans that parents of dependent students can take out to pay for their child’s education. Must be repaid.
Private scholarships: Available from a variety of sources, including local community groups and beauty brands.
Private loans: Available from banks and credit unions, these loans may have a higher interest rate than Federal loans. Must be repaid.

Financial Aid at JT’s Cuts Academy FAQs

What is the FAFSA® and why do I need it?

The FAFSA® is a free online application for federally funded educational grants and loans. It calculates your Expected Family Contribution (EFC), which is the amount of money you and your family can expect to pay towards your training. It then uses this information to create an aid package. Completing it early gives you better access to funding, so don’t delay. The FAFSA® opens October 1 for the following academic year.

What is included in my tuition?

Your tuition includes all your training, supplies, and tools, including a complete student kit with backpack, mannequin, and uniform. It also gives you opportunities to work with real clients in our salon and barbershop. Why are you asking me for additional information?

The FAFSA® requires documentation on your identity, finances, and citizenship status. Depending on your circumstances, the Department of Education or our financial aid office may require additional information. You must provide all required documents to be considered for the federal financial aid program, but if you have questions about any documentation needed, let us know!
